Cerulean Blues (Color Is Pride True Colors Challenge)
The Loss of my son by Yvonne Masotta

I invented her, a woman, she is careful with her kindness, She loves, aches, yearns. She recoils from the adornments of words, finds herself small, and on her knees she fills a room acres and acres. She suffers, her anguish rests atop the wick and just below the flame, The tiniest of spaces knowing her, it is more than knowing her, it's her details, acquired lines. She will agree to disagree and finding herself to be flawed her offer is one of wishing. If you were to wish her away, with bound words she will agree and away she will. Your eyes will find her un-existed and with ease her memory will drift from you quickly, as though a single droplet falling from the icicle that chilled you for the single moment that secured her promise and fulfilled the contract. She can be uninvented for you. Her memory taken too young,, she remains. Today she listens to a thought, a simple message, and she calms, breaking her own silence to steady herself as the bavarian rye crisp kisses her palate and floods her senses tasting the infused honey. She sips life this morning, savoring its fill. Blue light treats her pale skin to colour and paints her pretty, cerulean satisfies the canvas given and stretched with time. She is unkind to passion, it swallows wholey what is her very being. The embers wet, she continues to burn, it's searing. Dusting herself smudged, her cinders trail her, the soot stains her toes and grows to anklets. Her knew jewels chain her distances, she is flightless without them. Her wings singed and depleted. She assembles to rebuild with a surge and walks between the spaces in silver slivers that man might whisper in a thought he might hope she is not a dream. He will question with some effort convincing himself her creation a passing fancy leaving her to own herself, and She will, she invented her, a woman, careful with her kindness, aching and yearning and denying herself, she was born to sire at the mention of her name, the birth of love, a son lost. She, once exquisite, and rare, listens to a world in hopes of hearing the cerulean blues, the color of his face, the thickening richness of his heartbeat now stilled setting the rhythm for every note she paints with music and lyrics. There is a knowing when you have a child and you find yourself fulfilled and a purpose. A protection that decorates you stronger and you grow into it without realizing the creation was not just life but a new inside that revisits history and repeats itself. You become more than your present but inviting the past dressed in hues of history. While furthering the future in hopes you have made the world a better place but more so that you have made something better than yourself. He was gone my future was gone, did a good deed, acted responsibly, and in a matter of seconds was erased. How does one carry on and deny life beyond themselves. I dreamed him, I must have woken and found myself at the beginning again. I took the blue he gifted me and bathed it in the sounds we drew the air. I inhale and no breath enters, I exhale to find a whisper of this former laughter now dressed in blue as if in a changing room. I approve it, and write my name in spaces that fold over and find new meaning in Mama, and redefine him infinite, cut the bones and to new pages I commit his love and sing them out to the blue cerulean mist that soaks my soul. This pace fears nothing, and time is slowed and sped up to meet the demand of my heartbeat and in this I find his every now and then. I am reminded and reminding. Relive and redress the memory and paint it wordless but dripping in colorless clones of the cerulean blue that kissed his lips and stolen the breath from the beautiful boy who was on his way home. We were speaking that very moment, and he was hungry as he regaled me with the everyday normalcy of wanting me to make him something and looking forward to the splash of food that would fill his thin full. I miss the boy, and it stole a man, I will retake his future in his word and tones that will redefine the blue left him to beautiful lavish luxury and call out to him in song. This is my Cerulean Blues Binge.
