Nurses week

Time to speak

of all the great men

and of course women

that choose this career

I fear

I could not do what they do

someone turning blue

someone dying

I would be crying

and saying

I like to help somebody

but can't move my body

fast enough no more.

A nurse a bit younger

than my age was a slugger

At a powwow, she heard a calling

that a child was injured

She kicked off her red

boots, and started to run

that would not be fun

She pulled up her skirt

with shorts under she did spurt

across the ring. She will never shirk

her duty or wonder how it would work

~

What may have happened

without her there to depend

on. I was happy to have her share.

I did listen and I did stare.

~

My daughter is busy

it makes me dizzy

to hear all she is up to

in her nursing too

She is consulting

with programs struggling

A RN who has many

years of experience, any

facility would be lucky to have

her experience on their behalf.

~

Congratulations to all nurses

the ones who carry purses

and the ones who don't

My daughter won't

as she may nee to run

and can't bother with one
