The perfect canvas
For mental paintings
Deep in the night
When a blank, dreamless,
Sleep refuses to present itself
When nothing is seen or real,
Nothing stays the same
When the ‘helps’ are silent
No plea is heard
No lives are saved, only taken
Deep in the night,
The terrifying dark engulfs the
World in its silence
Between dusk and dawn
What better time to create
A mental masterpiece
When else shall,
One become an insomniac Van Gogh
A sleepless DaVinci
What better canvas is there?
Than that of a dark
Blank, shadowed, hidden
Ceiling?
Something that must be there
You remember it, but you can't see it
Where else is there to
Place the mental works of an
Insomniac brain?
