The Bleed

Keep writing.

Keep writing so you don’t have to speak.

Keep writing to hold off the day,

To extend the night.

Keep writing until you have punctured a vein.

Now bleed.

Let the vein drip words onto paper.

Finger paint your grotesque images,

Until they stop holding space in your head.

Open the vein and type until you have destroyed fingertips.

Maybe the poison will leave.

Maybe then you will be granted a precious gift.

A new beginning that will not be tainted.

One that won’t be marred by opinion or memory.

One you won’t be able to rip apart.
