Catharsis of a Drive

aka the art of being untouchable

By Jane NorthwoodPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

It is hard to find

anything

more cathartic

than loud music, a car, and

a partner

driving too fast down

the black ribbon of road.

Between the bass

and the touch

of his hand on your thigh

there is a deficit of sound

and thought,

this quiet oasis of peace.

It’s like sitting next to the ocean

during a storm,

The salt rests on your lips and

eyelashes, like snowflakes

as the full,

swollen

waves crash toward you.

like a conglomerate of all your

thoughts

failures

insecurities.

But in that space

in that deficit of sound

and thought,

with the copper taste

of blood in your mouth?

you are

Untouchable.
