Catching Light

Failure

By Nicole LeonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

A prism dangles

Catching the afternoon light

Spreading a melody of hues that dance throughout the room

Bright-eyed morning dew breeze on the shore of my awareness

Enchanted by rainbows

I try to catch them

Chasing, grasping, aiming to no avail

A familiar feeling dawns

orange and purple pangs of disenchantment overcome me

This body is opaque and it hurts

The light recedes the hues are gone

The light recedes and the play is done

The light recedes and I no longer see what I could become

I look forward to another day

When the prism catches the afternoon light

Another day of chasing rainbows
