It’s tough, to care.
For some. Years and years of refusing to acknowledge this ability giving them a insulating layer to deny......caring.
Daily reinforcements with verbal mantras cementing their attitudes of “Not giving a fuck”
Their callous attitudes surround them, armor them against the world. Lest they become vulnerable to emotion. So many reinforcing this armor with emotion limiting drugs. Further protecting them from potential pain. The pain of caring.
So many, so so many, that they form a collective wall, bouncing off of each other in their attempts at a less emotional life.
Is the pain of caring that great?
We become less and less human. “How many likes can I get?” In some superficial sphere of fake reality. Or some little emoji of love perhaps.
This is not living, this is not caring, this armor, worn by so many is a prison, one built by themselves, worn by choice.
What have we become?
