I once had a tree

or should I say the tree once had me

It showed me its depth

Isn’t it good

Canadian wood

...

It asked me to stay

and it told me to lie anywhere

So I looked around

and I noticed there wasn’t a bed

...

I slept on a branch

biding its time

writing a rhyme

We talked until night and then it said

“Time for your head”

...

It told me it worked

all day long and started to shake

I told it I didn’t

and crawled off to sleep in its shade

...

And when I awoke I was alone

This tree had been wronged

So I wrote down its life

Isn’t it good

Canadian wood
