Can’t Walk My Own Line

There’s always someone trying to guide your life. In the end you have to walk your own line and not let anyone decide what that line is.

Can't walk my own line

without somebody

trying to straighten it for me.

***

Can't make my own time

without somebody

trying to set it for me.

***

Can't drink my own wine

without somebody

trying to drink it for me.

***

Always somebody

Making the choices.

***

Always somebody

Taking my choices .

***

Always somebody

Blocking my choices.

***

I wish I could be free.

***

I wish I could be me.

***

I wish all could see.

***

I'm not somebody

With blocked choices.

***

I'm not somebody

With taken choices.

***

I'm not somebody

denied making choices.

***

I can drink my own wine

without somebody

trying to drink it for me.

***

I can make my own time

without somebody

trying to set it for me.

***

...most of all

***

I can walk my own line,

without somebody

trying to straighten it for me.
