Can't Be Sure

fog or mist?

By Brenton FPublished 20 days ago 1 min read

i couldn’t put into words

exactly what i wanted to say

i didn’t know what had to be said

and i still don’t to this day

i can’t be sure that the words i want

are the ones that i need to say

once committed there’s nothing omitted

and it has to simply be this way

i didn’t know how to act

or which face i was supposed to choose

trying not to treasure or measure

the amount of face yet left to lose

i wasn’t about to give up out or in

or go on a three day bender

there is no shame in a dignified retreat

but i will never ever surrender

fact or fiction
