CAN DREAMS BE REAL?

 Was I dreaming?

 %%%%%%%%%%

I dreamed of a window

With a clawed hand reaching in.

Behind it was a ghoul

With a devilish grin.

 %#%#%#

 He then grabbed my throat

And started to squeeze.

I choked; I sweated.

My breath was a wheeze.

 %#%#%#

 I fought and wriggled

As I tried to get free.

Who was this demon

Who was attacking me?

 %#%#%#

 He spoke not a word

As my vision turned black.

I slumped to the floor

And couldn’t fight back.

 %#%#%

 When I opened my eyes

I was back in my bed.

My breathing was normal.

I was clearly not dead.

 %#%#%#

 I looked in the mirror

And with a loud gasp,

Around my throat

Was a large round red gash.

 %#%#%#

 Then as I tried

To wash the welts clean,

In the mirror appeared:

Happy Halloween.
