Calling all Cars

to save a young lover’s heart

peril for this young lover’s heart

under bone crushing weight

that offers more than just scars

he tries to escape

before calling all cars

sirens signify violence

no longer provide a rush

as all hands-on deck

address pain in his chest

and silent mementos

that boil his blood

if peace is clean water

ideas that he taught her

fill his cup to the brim with mud

and thoughts constant

like an incurable cancer

feel worn

like shoes, of a tiny dancer

who spent long hours of night

broadway tapping all over his heart

to get where we are going

sometimes it is best to look back at the start

but please forgive him

for not wanting to look back

as he knows where he has been

with no desire to torture his eyes with sights

that might have him relive this all over again
