Cairo for the Day
A poem about a trip to Cairo
Is there one day
in your life
you remember
most of all?
The most memorable time
happy you did it
because it being the most
special vivid day
you'd ever had.
My special day was
when I lived in Cyprus
and took a trip,
a day's excursion
with a friend
to Cairo.
An August day in Cairo
Egypt's great city
hot scorching sun on my shoulders
visiting the pyramids of Giza
and other exquisite sites.
I loved my day there
visiting the
Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali.
Wandering around
the pyramids of Giza,
seeing the Might Sphinx,
being inside the pyramid
seeing the tomb,
eating lunch at the Meridan
a five-star hotel,
going shopping
at the oriental bazaar,
visiting the Papyrus Institute.
To end the day,
we cruised the Nile
whilst having dinner
and drinking wine.
The entertaining belly dancer
harmonious movements she made
whilst we cruised the Nile
the waters rippled mildly
as the boat moved and we ate
exquisite Egyptian food and
drank red wine.
Memorable times -
a day never to be forgotten
and I still remember it
to this day.
A special day with
a special friend.

Sounds like a wonderful day! I've always wanted to see Cairo ❤️
Gosh, that's like a very wonderful adventure! Beautiful poem!
That was really sweet.
I could visually see Cairo as I was reading. Beautiful.
Cairo is a wonderful place. I was there many years ago.
Beautiful trip.
The sights, the smells, the sounds, even for just fun, just messing around, the vivid memory sounds like a dream. Cruising the Nile eating delicious cuisine. Though I'd always be afraid of the Nile. Fear of gargantuan hippos that could chop in half 20 foot crocodiles. Of the great sphinx of Egypt the nearest I've gotten, so far the closest, is watching the movie "Prince of Egypt" starring Moses.
