Caged

A Circus Charade

Art by C. Ochoa

You tried to cage me, like an animal at the circus. People stared at me, poked at me, and gauked at me; but I was helpless. Left to the mercy of your whim.

You took me out from time to time, but you held the leesh tight. By your side forevermore, till I fell down the rabbit hole.

I once thought death to be my only saving grace, till death became me. No way in or out, the confines of my mind began to torture me. Everything spinning around me, I was suffocating.

You thought you had won, you thought you had me, trapped in your grasp for all eternity. Death to be my only saving grace... An innocent soul made a trade.

Leaving everything to fate, I made my escape.
