Caged Bird Singing

A Poem

Caged Bird

I was trying to find happiness in my captivity like a caged bird singing melodies of pain

With her puffed breast I must confess she’s given into her shame

She answers to Tweety she’s has embraced her slave name

You see the cage is all she knows she's fallen foul to the slave game just like the rest of us

There was a time when for freedom we couldn't get enough us

But now all everybody wants is a bit of security and love

Uncompelled by what the world has in store for us

They have us build together, but put us in broken teams

Have us wake early so that we forget our dreams

They Repeat their plans to us so that we feel kind of keen

And stop wondering about what could have been

What a load

It's like we’re all walking around with Stockholm syndrome

Everyday living just to please the masters

I’m like Theon Greyjoy kissing up to some bastard

Cause I was trying to find happiness in my captivity like a caged bird singing melodies of pain

But now I'm just picking locks and snapping chains
