Scribbling swirls as if it were

Real Script

With Substance

And With Meaning

The curls, you see,

They make a sound

Between a C and a K

But not nearly,

Those jagged lightning-looking things

Carry the sharp “shh”

Of an S and an H

But not really.

It’s understandably unwell-written

I’ll continue to write, still

As if it had meaning or substance

As if it meant something to someone

As if it is anything, to anyone,

To some degree

Had I been a child,

It'd be called imaginative,

Aww, and “good job!”

But alas, I am grown

This adult’s scribble is not aww,

Is not good, or imaginative

Or worthy of a job

But it is what it is

And so,

I’ll continue the scribbling,

Sans substance

Missing its meaning

Until it is real,

But not really.

Until it is imaginative,

But not really.

Until, until,

Until the curls

Make a C and a K,

Really,

Until the jagged edges

Really

Make the “shh” of SH

Until it means substance

I’ll continue

Like a child

As an adult

I’ll continue

As if it was Real Script

Rather than

Sincere scribbling
