n i g h t

drifted quietly

r o l l i n g

on billows

of

iron air

r a p t u r i n g

autumn in

a glaze of

moon-spun

f r o s t

*

drifts of

starlit breath

r e s o n a t e

their song

w r a p p i n g

aureate branches

in soft

e c h o e s

of

liminal tongue

s c r i p t e d

in

glinted

s l i v e r s

of

s i l v e r e d

threads

*

w h i s p e r i n g s

of a

final hymn

e t c h e d

in veils of rime

c o n d u c t

a chorus

of silent spindles

and

feathered fractals

c a s t i n g

a frosted

skeletal lattice

of voiceless

crystalline plumes

a c r o s s

saffron canopies

*

a delicate

e l e g y

recited over

each

leaf and bough

*

and in their

richest and truest

l a s t

splendid

moment

*

an opaque symphony

s i l e n t l y

plays

the opus of ice

*

s h r o u d i n g

autumn’s

release

in a

c e r e m o n y

of

hallowed

h u s h

*

ushering in

the

u n b i n d i n g

of form

*

c h a n t i n g

g e n t l y

nothing is lost—only transformed

*

and

for

a

s u s p e n d e d

lustrous

b r e a t h

*

balancing

the

l u c e n t

edge

*

reverent

a d o r n m e n t s

of

enshrined

v a p o r

keep vigil

with the

r e t u r n i n g

light

*

transforming

f a d i n g

hues

into prisms

of

r e s p l e n d e n t

rays

*

diamond encrusted

h a l o s

gleam in their

f i n a l

glorious

f l a r e

*

as earth

exhales in

v i b r a t i o n s

of

muted mist

t h r u m m i n g

the soft

invisible hum

of

t r a n s f o r m a t i o n

in a

luminous

c r o s s i n g
