Red Hot Summers

By Kay's Pool

This pool suffers eternal blues

While I endure the suffocating closeness

Of a scarlet flame

Revealing the return

Of yet another Florida summer

Transforming the gulf bath waters

A tepid tea green

Kicking off in Key West

Spreading through Miami

Wildfire

Across the state

Napoli and Siesta

Through the great disney divide

Into the eldest town

Registered for a scientifically serious

Bi-saint

An indiscernible lighter hue

Of Red

Still all Powerful

Blinding upon the pale panes.

Alone by Kay's crystalline pool

I think Cousin

Oh my Cousin

Blond and brassy as they come packaged

Funny flavoring to your brazen brassiness

Beguiling in your blondish little girl

Vulnerability

Pink rose purses and ripe wine lips

Filling the coveted pages of glossy

Fashion magazines

Once upon a youth

Poured over and shared

Cousin

Oh my Cousin

I find myself not so alone

By Kay's pool.
