Butterfly

The end of you

There is an edge

In your deep voice

It cuts a glass shard

Across my linear thoughts

I was surprised

To find your sandy hair

And shoulders broad and strong

Meeting me here tonight

The water was waist-deep

And moved around me

Like mercury - thick and shiny

And I was happy there

But there is no freedom

From your solid form

Though I almost believed the lie

That I found my escape

Instead the sky broke

Sending rain of black ice

And sharp bolts of fire

And your brutal, heavy hand

Maybe I will melt in solitude

If there is a god

Or maybe you will fly away

If salvation is a butterfly
