Butter Flies

It was not like the creatures that flutter

I needed to stand here and suffer

Seemed like a small thing that over time wouldn't matter

But I didn't appreciate the appearance of the spatter

Keep looking but can't find what I consider to be fine

Couldn't believe what I was seeing with my own eyes

It wasn't what I was expecting to find

Was hoping it was all in my mind

Just wanted to have something for later

This wasn't what I would call greater

Took another look and almost felt crook

Wasn't what I was going to use to cook

Would have to find something else for everyone to try

This was not the sort that you looked for and caught

Just something that you bought

But didn't expect to have insects adding up to more than nought

Crawling around in your spread before they might end up dead

Wouldn't have mattered if it had been something unseen

Or it was all just in a dream

Roaming around like some secret little spies

All these dirty butter flies
