I am Yellow

No ultrasounds in those good ole days

I am fortunate to be around because of my gender you see.

Not everyone cheered when news got around.

I am the yellow that resemble recycling bin lids,

There's stuff deep down that no one else sees.

I am the yellow reflection, in rainbows and sunshine,

Like all other colors, you only see perfection.

Celebrations, how elaborate be?

cakes, corks and fireworks. New Year Eve is my celebration of choice,

kisses exchanged, it's balloons that I FEAR.

The element of those nasties popping, sending shockwaves .

It's globophobia, not glee.

I am a diamond with a prominent yellow hue,

I am not unwanted, not cursed.

I am rare, that is true.

I am Saturday's scrambled egg, simple.

I embrace big family gatherings and entertaining too.

I love pool parties, BBQ's, just please don't bring any balloons.
