Stupid Dreams

Someone take this broken beating thing in my chest

Take away the anxiety and pain

It’s like today is yesterday

And I haven’t healed any

I feel like I’m grasping at the straws

Struggling to breathe through the water again

I’m so sick of my feelings

So tired of feeling anything at all

My dreams betray my thoughts

I see your face once again,

Feel your skin beneath my fingertips

Some days I just want to cry

Scream at the top of my lungs

And learn to forget the sound of your voice

Am I doomed to feel like this forever

So broken and consumed

So wrapped up in every thought and memory about you
