Burning it All

Day 49/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

What would happen,

if I lit a match,

and blew on the kindling,

and stoke the sparks of the flames.

would it smolder and smoke

and catch,

and light up my name.

Would it crawl to the paper

across this dried up ground

would it cling to the frames of the doors.

Would it wrap itself up in the curtains

and as it crackles a long

would it dry up the sweat and the tears from the floors.

Would it rage and roam free

melt the glass and the roof,

rip the walls down until theirs nothing but sky

would it give me the courage,

while it's all burning down,

to finally spread my wings and fly
