Burlap

Free Verse

By Aspen Marie Published 3 months ago • 1 min read
Drawing: mine

Little bird

Nurse your

Broken wing

Hold it close

Cry aloud

For the injustice

Of such injury

Masquerading as

A grown woman

Responsible, capable

But veils eventually

Grow threadbare

Revealing a burlap

Trench coat and

Stick arms

I am the bird

I feel small

Sad, broken

I am none

Of these things
