Buried at the Base of a Cavern in the Snow

Footsteps swallowed

Eyes blinded

Wind is howling

Cold is biting

Safety calls

The cavern calls

Escape the wind

Escape the cold

Silence deafens

Heartbeats quicken

Thoughts racing

Instincts screaming

A cry for help

No answer

Silence deafens

Heartbeats quicken

Eyes shifting

Tears are streaming

Mind is numbing

The cold attacks bones

Silence deafens

Heartbeats quicken

Panic wins

Senses tingling

Squeak for help

No answer

Silence deafens

Heartbeats quicken

Hope is gone

Whisper for help

An answer

Manic laughter

Silence no more

Heartbeats no more

Only laughter

Menacing, triumphant laughter

Dog digs through

Eyes of wisdom

He knows

Too late

Eternal silence

Heartbeats no more

Do you enjoy your stories dark, like your coffee? Without sweeteners or milk to lighten the effect? Occasionally there might be some bittersweet chocolate thrown in for free; call it a mocha. Well, I might just have the right tales for you!
