Burdened by Innocence

a Child's Sacrifice

A child with eyes so big and bright,

Endures the day and all its might,

He carries on with all his might,

To keep his brother safe at night.

A burden he has had to bear,

Of hunger, pain, and despair,

No time to rest, no time to play,

For survival's sake, he must obey.

His little brother, so small and weak,

Is in his care, every day of the week,

He's their only hope, their only shield,

Against the cruelty of the world they yield.

Their parents, lost to the dark,

Left them with a burden, a painful mark,

But he won't falter, he won't break,

For his brother's sake, he'll take the ache.

Oh, how sad this tale must be,

Of a child's life, so full of misery,

But his love is pure, his heart is kind,

In his brother's care, he'll always find.

Burdened by innocence, he stands tall,

Ready to face life's daunting call,

The weight he carries, no one should bear,

But he does it anyway, with utmost care.
