Once you dance with the fire for so long you
Become eager for validation but
you can’t find the song.
Consumed with shadows and starving for connection,
I was empty and bear and
looking for perfection.
Being shackled to the ground, hearing, ‘escape if you dare.’
Naturally I disconnected from anyone who cared.
Heart beats heavy and my body is still in shock.
My mind is tangled and my thoughts are always blocked.
The opinions of society pelt my body like a drum.
The pain is so heavy it just leaves me feeling numb.
Intentional changes slipped me out of the darkness,
Suddenly I’m standing in my own skin.
Remembering the lessons that taught me the sharpness
And showed me that I have a lion within.
