Scattered there

Around your feet

Tiny limbs and fractured grins

Hearts in splinters

Hopes dashed among the rocks

Broken things

Paltry things

Those broken toys around you lying

Sightless eyes your fear belying

Torn asunder

Cast aside

Thrown out on an ebbing tide

Far from you

You thought them sent

Too far to hear

Their sad lament
