He kissed her with a plea
Holding her waist to reassure stability
Though they’d lost that long ago
Not returning his embrace
Her hand laid lifeless by her side
Her eyes showing a lost soul
Going through the motions
Wondering when this routine would cease
And though she had the power at its grasp
Many trifles were still in the way
For he had been the father of her child
And to strip her son from what she missed out on, she couldn’t do
But a detrimental family is no environment for a child
One so divided and unloving doesn’t bring anyone happiness
