Another name added to the list,

Another soul lost in the mist.

A life taken by a trigger's kiss,

A family shattered, a heart full of abyss.

The color of skin, a fatal crime,

Innocence lost, in the hands of time.

A badge and a gun, no justice in sight,

A system broken, a future not bright.

The protests march, voices unite,

For a world where justice sees the light.

Where every life is equal in might,

And the darkness is defeated by the light.

But the tears still fall, and the pain still flows,

For the families who are left to mourn and to know,

That their loved one's life was worth more than a show,

And that their loss will forever glow.

So let us stand, hand in hand,

For a future where justice expands,

Where every soul is equal in land,

And where the shootings of unarmed black men cease to stand.
