Poverty and depression
Anxiety and recession
No excuse for social decay
Picking up a knife, assault or afray
So take my hand and together we shall pray.
We all got one life with opportunity
Lets share the love and rebuild our community
Together we are stronger
Put down the knife and our young will live longer
You wanna hear my latest issue
Pull up a chair and you better bring a tissue
We ain't some government statistic
The Knife or our life and I'm being realistic
Problems don't just go away
Face up or I ain't here to stay.
Another mourning mother
And another lost brother
We need to start with education
And lose the discrimination
We need action against our word
A chance for victims families to be heard
Our youth turning to a life on the road
A war fuelled by drugs and a postcode
Recruited with a nickname and aspiration
Turning to elders for inspiration
The promise of a better life
Before you know it, their holding a knife
