Bring Back the Times

Bring back the times,

of my sunny childhood.

of happy, carefree days,

when there were more smiles,

than tears

and life was like a fairy tale.

Bring back the days,

when life was simpler,

when friends were all around

and it was fun –

to wander,

to love,

to dance till dawn.

Bring back the days,

when true love came my way,

the days when words,

need not be spoken,

kisses brought passion

and love led the way.

Often we wonder,

how it would be –

if time could be rewound?

We know it could never be so

and skeptics have to smile,

at the delusional –

who hope to regain the past.

They do not understand,

that a true love can last,

that lovers parted,

will once again be reunited,

that all the stars in the sky,

sparkle with hope –

while lovers go promenading along the Milky Way,

So bring back the memories

and the times,

any one of them or all,

the sparkling, shining moments,

from the past,

were meant to last.

So patient I will be,

knowing that beyond the rainbow,

happier days await me

and there once again as in days of long ago –

I’ll dance with my love…
