Bring back faith and prayer

and a belief beyond ourselves

'I believe in angels, something good in everything I see'

Where is our freedom?

Is it lost for ever, like a wisp of smoke

Here one minute, gone the next

A harbinger of doom, gloom and death surrounds us

For we no longer believe in anything but ourselves

Frail, puny vessels made of flesh and blood

Defiant, stubborn, willful and filled with arrogance

mixed with stupidity

Humans

A paradoxical enigma that eludes even ourselves

Our leaders are instigating war

Against the express wishes of a country's subjects

Ego and narcissism rules supreme

Who are we to think that we are the be all and end all

of all things

Are we blind to the fact that

A people without faith

Are like the blind leading the blind

Divagating around and around in the same circles

Only to return to the same

Miserable state of being

Returning again and again

To repeat our mistakes

Blame and hurt others

Still we learn nothing

Doomed to apathy, impassivity and

uninterested detachment

A general disinterest in the well being of

our fellow man

has hardened our hearts and numbed our souls

I weep for you mankind, for us

Humanity has become death

Ego and self are our only focus

I, me, myself and I

Has become our motto

What happens when basic freedom

is callously trampled upon

And innocent lives

Pay the ultimate price

Let it not be our mantra

We have found war instead of camaraderie

We play the game of tug-of-war very well

Unsure of who or whom is actually winning

Who is winning?

We should ask ourselves that question

For the answer is

No one

Who is losing?

Everyone

We are all in that proverbial barrel

rolling down the hill

No picture of the unscathed avails itself

Find faith in something greater than yourselves

Something outside of yourselves

You alone can decide what that

entity will be

Awaken world

From your unbelief

It may be later than you think

Find your mantra

Maybe...

'All for one and one for all'

Let everyone know that

'You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather.'
