Brightly Colored Chore
Photo by Hello I'm Nik on Unsplash

Sand crunched under my youthful bravado.

Snug was the cream seashore sculpted by time.

Aspiring castle aficionado.

Without the patience to buttress and prime.

Instead, I buried my friends in fiction.

And turned to a digital distraction.

Tension between intro-extro friction

A brightly colored chore of attraction.

Pacified by waves eternal lapping

Searching seashell spiral Fibonacci.

Keychain plastic eggs in nature’s trapping.

Abandoned cluster of Tamagotchi.

Realizing too late, the beach I scoured.

My virtual pets couldn’t chirp or bark.

I eased my mind that they’d be empowered.

Scooped and saved by another childhood spark.

A testament to what can’t be shattered

Souvenir of what memories mattered.
