Bright Summer

A Sonnet

Bright summer beam your incandescent smile,

And give to me the gift of endless days.

The gift of starlit time to chase my thoughts,

and walk soft trodden paths of ancient clay.

Emerald days of everlasting green,

And clear crystal quartz in the falling rain.

Bold sapphire lakes with whispering waves-

A golden circlet in a daisy chain.

Amongst the clouds laid like a wedding veil

The eagles dance, and in the air they weave

A knot of joy as if they've summoned up

A sky so blue the eyes cannot believe.

There's music here, and magic in the air

Tis an invitation-to dream and dare.
