Breathe In

A poem for treating anxiety

Breathe in for now

And your mind won't run so fast

The room won't spin so violently

Breathe out for now

And the panic cannot last

You'll take your power finally

***

Breathe in again

And the clouds will dissipate

Relief will slowly trickle in

Breathe out again

And you'll see you're always safe

No matter who or where you've been

***

Breathe in once more

And the smell won't burn your nose

The gasoline was all poured out

Breathe out once more

And the fire will burn low

The sparks won't scratch your voice box now

***

Breathe in one time

Just one more time I promise

You're not a mummy in your bed

Breathe out one time

Just know that you're okay now

You'll never be alone again
