Breathe Deep

A Poem

Close your eyes

A deep breath in.

Relax, let go.

It's time to begin again.

Life is hectic, painful, and sharp.

The edges cut, blunt force bruises.

Battering body and soul.

Stop, wait, it's not all anguish.

There is light, a tinkling bell.

Laughter from a child's lips,

a whisper from a lover's mouth.

The warmth of a parent's touch.

The comfort of a friend's presence.

It soaks into the skin like the sun's heat.

Warming, deep into the weariest of bones.

Life is harsh and brutal, with biting teeth,

but there is comfort, joy, and happiness.

Breath deep, release,

and begin again.
