Taste of Freedom

You said I was an angel

Then sawed off my wings

Woke up a decade gone

Flightless

Terrified of my own skin

Living with a monster

Hiding behind human bones

Feigning affection in public

In private frigid cold

Promised me a life on fire

Neglected to mention

It was me you planned

to burn alive

Found the key to my cage

Appeared out of reach

A fingers grasp too high

Saw the panic you felt

When you saw me see

That all I had to do

Was grab the key

The demons you harbor

Inside disgusting ego trips

Nothing but insignificant parasites

Cowardice dripping from their lips

A specialized diet of

Fear created in malice

If I was an angel

Was it the devil who

Made you so callous?

Time for you to starve

The prisoner is free

Is it wrong that I sigh

While you suffer and can't breath?

heartbreak
