For my Tomato Plant

You're just a tomato plant,

but I swear

those leaves wave at me

like we’ve known each other

for years.

Your fruit hangs low,

pink as shy roses,

like you're blushing

from the sun’s

attention.

I check on you

more than my emails.

You're the best thing

I’ve grown

all year.
