BRAND NEW ME
Lantern, in a hurricane
A frightful gust, I've lost my way
Friends are there
But voices now,
Fog and sleet
Clouds my brow,
I shout,
I scream,
I kick,
I tear,
Never escaping my own hair
Eyes closed shut,
Substance abuse,
A cliche way to steals ones youth
A desperate act,
A shout of pain,
Escaping; an attempted in vain
Disappointment, delves the depths
My mind, this ocean,
Of little consequence
Over the bow,
A song cuts deep
A mermaid shows a path to me
The trance I'm under,
I know it's wrong,
And yet I heed the sirens song
Over board, my body goes
My mind,
My thoughts,
Foreign,
Unknown
Down,
And down,
And down,
I go,
The ocean mirroring my own soul
A gasp, I think:
"Who is that?!"
I recognize not, the man who stares back
Alas I sink,
The deed is done
Memories,
A gush,
A flood,
They come
Warm the moments
I thought my last,
Before I felt,
A grip,
A grasp,
Resist I did,
Eyes tear to think.
I accepted,
I had reached the brink
A vice like hold, you pulled me forth,
My footsteps once more grace this earth
Loved ones, I know not what to say,
An apology?
A gesture?
Not this day
A binding contract, is what I seek: As I set sail,
My ship I'll not bottle,
Feelings are meant to be shared,
Not swallowed
When I feel anxious,
When I feel down,
Never again,
Will I look over that bow
For in the light,
You all made me see,
A brand new person,
A brand new me.
