deny the dawn

By jade valentinePublished 5 years ago 1 min read

4:00 a.m. cocoon.

I wish I were the moon.

thin air to breathe, no where to be, misty, drifty, moon.

A consciousness resides beneath the night's last grasp on skin.

IGNORE the chirping birds that beckon in the dawn......forget the sun, just take to flight. turn around, soar back to night.

Heart pounding drums upon the lungs... beating down the urge to yawn. The clock denies the time to rest. stay deep in night, it is what's best.

Morning threatens quiet peace, the softness cradling the streets

DENY impending sun so bright, burrow deeper, dissolve in dark

charcoal stillness, sleeping city, take me.

no eyes to witness.

no motion, noise, cars or hibiscus.

4 a.m. My sultry stillness.

turn me translucent.

translate my breath to midnight mist, so i might blow away from here.

still night i crave, the dawn I fear.

surreal poetry
