Brain Overload

the overwhelming weight of stress

Knowing, thinking, constant sinking,

Rising higher, falling fast,

Plunging downward, soaring upward,

Struggling to hold to task.

Thoughts are racing, dreams I’m chasing,

Lifted from the ground, ecstatic,

Stressed and nervous, quite impervious

To the weight of work—I’ve had it!

Focus, focus—can I focus?

Struggle’s real; it’s hard to cope,

Thinking, thinking, always thinking…

Laughing, ‘cause this seems a joke!

Here I am, my mind still racing,

Struggling to focus, yet,

Knowing that within some hours,

I will have to take a test!

Calmer, tranquil, trying to settle

This unending train of thought,

From elation to frustration,

Must I do the things I ought?

Sighing, how the time is flying,

Busy! Let me get it done,

Hope that I can focus now

That I have taken time for fun.
