box of grieve

the wooden memory box I got for Christmas when I was 4 and all the things it holds for me

There is this box of grieve

holding all the things

i choose to leave

all the letters and believes

tickets,

keepsakes and old trophies

everything i thought

i could easily leave

There is this box of grieve

holding a thought

of what i used to need

coins

of places

parts of me

will ever leave

temporary homes

of make-believe

There is this box of grieve

filled with

loves and dreams

friendships lost

like parts of me

faces

i still meet

written words

and photos

that deceive

no matter how

desperately I read

and re-read

pasts

that will never repeat

There is this box of grieve

built and held by words

which read:

How high do you believe

is the number of things

i could leave

before those of which

i had not yet

to relieve

myself tearing

in every direction

looking for the other part

of my carefully chosen selection

a picture of beauty

and painfully

far connection

the worlds largest

broken heart collection

a box of paper

with your reflection

There is this box of grieve

for every most memorable piece

of my chosen recollection of perfection
