People don’t necessarily appreciate you more just because you treat them well.

Some people will remember a single cup of water you gave them; others will receive a bucket and still complain that you didn't give them the whole ocean.

In real life, you have undoubtedly encountered people like this:

You spend time helping them, and they think it is your duty.

You carry their burdens, and they take your strength for granted.

Finally, when you are exhausted, they turn around and question whether you have done enough.

Kindness isn't a mistake, but boundless kindness is self-harm.

Those who truly deserve your help carry a light in their hearts. A simple "thank you," a thoughtful response, or even a small change in their behavior makes you feel that they genuinely cherish your spirit.

But for those who lack gratitude, the more you give, the more they expect. They might even cast you as the "bad guy" the very moment you stop.

As you get older, you must learn to distinguish between who is worth lifting up and who will only drag you down. Kindness should be given to the right people, and help should be offered selectively.

This isn't about becoming indifferent; it’s about protecting your energy and your boundaries.

Because your life is precious, your time, energy, and kindness should be reserved for those who know how to cherish them, who are willing to give back, and who deserve to be treated with gentleness.
