A poem

Not truly known by any soul.

-

The secret is kept.

-

Creature of multiple faces,

a kaleidoscopic personality,

a mess of all things grey.

-

Overwhelmingly empty,

hollow at the centre

lost inside the black tangle

of electricity-pumping wires,

razor fences and long black hairs.

-

The car with blacked out windows

sped up just after passing,

eyes from the open window, peering,

red

and thirsty.

-

I pulled my hat further down

and stared at muted patterns

in the concrete.

-

Legs couldn’t run much faster on

that tarmac, much like quicksand.

-

A story untold.

-

One of many, silence is the greatest safety

even as your teary eyes beg for answers.

-

When you close that door tonight,

you take my silence with you.

By the time that you return,

if ever,

it will have regrown.

-

There isn’t much longer

until it will have taken over.

-

I remain reticent

despite a thousand

present deficits.

-

A black hole

for all benefits.

-

When every day gives you reasons

to not see the next one

inner minds collide, and

there’s bound to be tension.

-

Tied up in knots

my stomach replicates the pattern

but nothing will come out.

No words, and no fear.

-

They remain

and they stain

the glass which I had spent

so many hours cleaning,

trying to make things clear.
