Both Were Alive

Laughing at Mortality

One wore glasses

The other didn’t

One was purple green pink and yellow

The other was green yellow pink and purple

One had two arms

The other had two legs -

One was short

One was tall

But both

But both

Were alive

Both ‘got up everyday’

And slept every night

And passed feces and urine

Both searched out natural things

And drank tea

Both found themselves

‘dying slowly,’

Both ‘laughed at mortality,’

While crying inside,

Both ‘were very polite,’

And resigned themselves

To waiting for sunlight.
