You Claimed the Ending I Had Already Written.

Alone with you, I’d pull you from your sleep,

And trace each fracture where your silence runs deep.

I’d gather all the pieces you let fall,

And mend the breaks you never tried to call.

I’d name the nights you left me in the cold,

The stories that you told, but never sold.

I’d stitch the doubt, the ache, the quiet scar,

Until you knew exactly who you are.

Yet here you stand, as if you won the fight,

As if you chose to vanish in the night.

You wear your exit like a hard-earned crown,

And think you put this whole love story down.

But listen—here's the truth you never see,

The door was mine, the key was next to me.

I’d drawn the line, I’d mapped the way to go,

My hand was on the latch, prepared to leave you, so.

You had the grace to leave me—what a win,

When I myself had planned to let you in… and then let go within.
