Blue Wound

a poem

You left my wound to fester,

neglecting it for so long.

Then, when you needed me again,

you expected my return.

Don't you think you owe me?

So much more than before?

Years of neglect, while you acted

as if I didn't exist,

as if nothing had ever happened.

Sure, we can forget it all.

From the outside, everything looks normal,

but inside me, a hurricane rages,

invisible to everyone.

I've lost count of how many times I've tried to let you go.

I almost succeeded.

You needed help, and I wanted to give it.

But I was on the receiving end of your intense anger.

I won't let that happen again.

It's not worth risking so much for someone who never seemed to care,

who tried to hide their true feelings,

just like everyone else around him.

Still hurting from the way he learned.

He’s grown, but nothing's changed.

Decades of one-sided behaviour

intending to hurt the ones they love.

That's not love.

They aren't even trying to address things properly.

Left to its own devices, it only considers the physical matters.

That's not the route to well-being.
