Bliss(fully-un)aware

perception times time

By BrenPublished 3 years ago • Updated 3 years ago • 1 min read
A Tawny Frogmouth having a dart and a pint!

i didn’t know

what was real

i didn’t know

what to feel

i didn’t know

how to share

i didn’t know

so i didn’t care

it was so much simpler

because i was blissfully unaware

shielded by what i assumed

to be a back home ignorance

‘twas nothing more

than a suit of petty arrogance

soul and conscience

knees and elbows

proud, defiant and threadbare

oh to just relish in the simple

and be blissfully unaware

echoes from ancient mirrors sing to me

those banshee slivers of yore

wail a keen but garbled dirge

traces of a half heard melody

flit in an out

amongst the sighs and screams

both leave the throat

aware of the death beyond the lips

there is no conceding to fair

it would all be so much simpler

were i blissfully unaware

to many thoughts

i now know,

i know too much

i now know,

i know how i lost touch

dust and cobwebs from then

litter this now and its air

life was so much simpler

when i was blissfully unaware
