Your heavy eyes stare back at me.
They blink once.
Twice.
And again.
I'm talking about nothing.
I'm going on and on.
My lips move quickly.
Maybe if they don't stop, you won't stop.
Your heavy eyes blink.
You turn over.
Then you turn over on your back.
Again.
And again.
I stop talking for a moment.
Your heavy eyes close once.
They close twice.
I know what's coming, I feel it.
It's right there in front of me.
But I start talking again anyways.
Hoping it's just in my head.
Maybe if I talk long enough, you'll stay awake.
Your heavy eyes blink a couple times before you say it.
Baby.
Baby.
I'm falling asleep over here.
Yeah I know.
I can see it.
My lips let out a sigh.
But baby, I'll see you tomorrow?
Yeah, of course.
Okay. Love you. Bye.
Your heavy eyes are gone.
Mine feel heavy for an entirely different reason.
They blink and blink.
Once more.
Again.
Blinking tears away.
I miss you.
About the Creator
Rabbit
I see the world a little differently than most. Even at a young age I was writing down what I saw but never sharing it with a soul until now. I'm choosing love over fear.
